We took part in our very first hackathon – and won it straight away! The Black Forest Innovation Hackathon brought together more than 60 participants and nine real hands-on challenges from regional companies. We chose the challenge set by BCT Technology: AI-powered log file analysis for the support of Siemens systems.

This challenge held a special appeal for us, because our founder Joshua Heller used to do exactly this work by hand – as a 3rd-level support and DevOps engineer on Daimler Trucks projects. Speeding it up with AI was the perfect task. The team was a perfect match, too: there were six of us – two full-stack developers, a data scientist, a UX designer, an innovation manager, and a project lead. Last to leave in the evening, first to arrive in the morning – we were ambitious to win.
Our solution Logify automatically analyzes unstructured log files, detects errors, and delivers prioritized solution suggestions. Two methods work behind the scenes: a matching algorithm across all existing logs and support cases, plus a RAG search over the entire Siemens knowledge base of roughly 500 MB of PDFs. Support staff are shown a diagnosis, a possible solution path, and relevant past cases right away. By our calculations, this can save around €350,000 per year.

It was our first hackathon, but certainly not our last. And the best part: Logify did not stay a prototype – the solution was later deployed into production at our client BCT. Thanks to BFI, BCT, and the whole team!
